FROGG CAFÉ Release "Bateless Edge" on 10T Records
Charleston, SC – June 1, 2010 (10T Records) – 10T Records is ecstatic to announce the release of the brand new studio release by FROGG CAFÉ, entitled "Bateless Edge." This will be the New York-based band’s fourth studio release and will be officially released by 10T Records on July 2nd, 2010.
On "Bateless Edge," Frogg Café consists of Bill Ayasse (violin, mandolin, vocals, hand percussion), James Guarnieri (drums, glockenspiel, orchestral percussion), Andrew Sussman (bass, cello, acoustic guitar), Nick Lieto (lead vocals, keyboards, trumpet, flugelhorn), John Lieto (trombone), and features the triumphant return of co-founding member, Frank Camiola (guitar, string bass, banjo). "Bateless Edge" is a stunning 78-minute statement, described by bassist/composer Andrew Sussman as a "reflection on incidents revolving around our own personal lives, as well as an integrated and newly formed sound that takes this band into realms that have been unexplored until now." "Bateless Edge" sees Frogg Café fearlessly breaking new musical ground while crafting some of the darkest and most intense musical statements made thus far by this ever-evolving band.
In this elaborate journey, Frogg Café explores many new textures and colors that add great dimension to the contemporary jazz-fusion sound that is unmistakably their own. The band incorporates for the first time detailed orchestration akin to symphony music. Clarinets, mandolins, cellos, glockenspiels, bass clarinets, xylophones, string quartets and many other instruments all integrate to create a soundscape that will yield the listener infinite details on future listens. Classical Indian influences also find their way into the mix, along with new levels of intricate compositional complexity, including a track that boasts a 28-page musical score consisting of roughly twenty-five different instruments.
Many additional instrumentalists were recruited to record this latest opus, including Andrew Sussman's father, Steve Sussman, on clarinet, Cardboard Amanda member, Dee Harris, on Indian Slide guitar and Tamboura, as well as fellow 10T artists, Vessela Stoyanova (Fluttr Effect), and Steve Kastikas (Little Atlas).
"Frogg Café is very special to 10T Records," says label president Steve Carroll. "They were one of the bands that were foundational to the creation of 10T, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be bringing this release to the world. It is quite simply the definitive creative statement for a band that has consistently made a career out of being among the best of the best."
"Bateless Edge" is available for pre-order starting on June 1, 2010. All orders received between now and the official release date will ship by the end of the week prior to the official release.
Additionally, everyone who pre-orders "Bateless Edge" will receive exclusive FREE temporary access to download "On the LillyPadd," a full length digital album featuring the following previously unreleased Frogg Café recordings:
- A Brass Quartet piece called "Prelude" that was originally recorded for Bateless Edge, but was cut due to time constraints.
- A 25-minute in the studio spaced-out Frogg jam called "At the Table of the Leptons".
- Excerpts from a never-released live show from Orion Studios recorded in Dec. 2006.
The band feels that this was one of their best shows, and features never been heard tracks.
All tracks from "Bateless Edge" are currently available to preview in their entirety through the 10T Records website: 10T Records
After July 2, "Bateless Edge" will be available through your favorite retail outlet for immediate purchase.

New York, NY - Progressive rock band Frog Cafe is pleased to announce the completion of their fourth studio release entitled Bateless Edge. The captivating new record is set to be released on 10T Records on June 18, 2010.
Bateless Edge is a stunning 78-minute statement, described by bassist/composer Andrew Sussman as a "...reflection on incidents revolving around our own personal lives, as well as an integrated and newly formed sound that takes this band into realms that have been unexplored until now." The seeds of Bateless Edge have actually dated back to 2003, when one of the pieces called "Pasta Fazeuhl", composed by co-founder and returning guitarist Frank Camiola, has finally come to fruition after seven years. Frogg Cafe has reworked and resurrected this 14-minute piece and it stands as one of the darkest and most intense musical statements made thus far by this ever-evolving band.
The centerpiece of the album is the nearly 20-minute "Under Wuhu Sun" composed by Andrew Sussman. Sussman explains, "This piece of music is very personal to me and based on true life events surrounding the adoption of our baby girl, and it has taken me nearly a year to get my thoughts into this piece". In this elaborate journey, Frogg Cafe explores textures and an detailed orchestration akin to symphony music; a giant step forward for the band. Clarinets, mandolins, cellos, glockenspiels, bass clarinets, xylophones, string quartets and many other instruments all integrate to create a sound world that will yield the listener infinite details on future listens. Sussman also contributes the Zappa-inspired and spacerock-tinged opener called "Terra Sancta", based on events surrounding the 9/11 attacks on The World Trade Center. This track also boasts Classical Indian influences, as well as a contemporary jazz-fusion sound that is unmistakably Frogg Cafe.
Lead Vocalist, keyboardist, and trumpet player Nick Lieto composed two tracks "Move Over, I'm Driving" and "From The Fence". Lieto's distinct style can be heard immediately and many Frogg Cafe fans will be thrilled to hear his two newest compositions, which are extremely well-thought out and expertly written. Lieto's enthusiasm for the music of J.S. Bach is imprinted into these pieces as the heavily contrapuntal scoring is both breathtaking and extremely intricate. Camiola's second contribution is in the 10-minute "Belgian Boogie Board", which began life as an unrecorded composition from his acclaimed avant-garde masterpiece Cardboard Amanda (1996 Liar Leaver Records). "Basically, it was an experimentation in orchestration and yields a new level of complexity for this band..." says Camiola on the composition which boasts a 28-page musical score consisting of roughly twenty-five different instruments.
Many additional instrumentalists were recruited to record this latest opus, including Andrew Sussman's father Steve Sussman on clarinet, Cardboard Amanda member Dee Harris on Indian Slide guitar and Tamboura, as well as fellow 10T artist Vessela Stoyanova from Fluttr Effect. Frogg Cafe Trombonist John Lieto adds his prodigious chops to "Bateless Edge" in many places as well.
Violinist, mandolinist, producer, and engineer Bill Ayasse has undoubtedly created his finest sonic work to date with "Bateless Edge". The standard of excellence that Frogg Cafe fans have come to expect will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of sound and detail that the new work demonstrates. Bill Ayasse has spent (in his own words) "Hundreds of hours...and then many, many, many more!...." on Bateless Edge. Ayasse elaborates further "The playing of the band is at an all-time high, especially for drummer James Guarneiri. He drives each composition with a flair and intensity that many drummers will be envious of when they've heard the album. If you thought he was good before, wait until you hear the new album. It is safe to say that this is James' finest playing of his career."
The amazingly diverse masterpiece Bateless Edge will be available for pre-order on June 3, 2010 by 10T Records.
10T RECORDS RELEASES "10T: UNDERCOVER"
CHARLESTON, South Carolina – August 12, 2009 (10T Records) – 10T Records is excited to announce the pending release of the CD "Undercover" on September 15, 2009. "Undercover" is the label’s first compilation project, featuring never before heard performances from the 10T roster of artists.
The concept behind "Undercover" is simple. The label asked each of its artists to select a song by another artist that was influential in the development of their own musical identity; a composition that might not sound exactly like what that 10T Records artist has evolved into, but one that significantly inspired their creativity at some point in their musical past. The mission was then to not simply do a faithful cover of that song, but to reinterpret the tune such that it represented where the artists musically find themselves currently.
"This collection’s purpose is to pay homage to superb artists from our distant and recent past while providing our listeners with a unique view into the current mindset of these talented musicians with whom 10T Records is honored to be associated," says 10T Records president Steve Carroll. "We hope everyone enjoys these recordings as much as we and the artists involved enjoyed putting it together."
10T: Undercover track listing:

FROGG CAFÉ PLANNING FOR A SUMMER 2009 STUDIO RELEASE
Frogg Café is having a great time recording this new one and is getting towards the end of laying down all the tracks. This one is a beast to record compared to our last studio efforts. It's going to be about 76 minutes of new music with more complex arrangements then we've ever tried to pull off before in several different progressive rock styles. Less than 40% of this album has ever been performed live! This one is with the original line-up of the band:
Nick Lieto - lead vox, trumpet, keys
Bill Ayasse - violin, mandolin, vox
Frank Camiola - guitar and chicken noises
James "sticks of fire" Guarnieri - drums and overall cuteness
Andrew Sussman - bass, cello, acoustic guitar
Plus an additional cast of thousands including John Lieto on trombone, Dennis Lippe (Foxy Moon Baby) on guitar, Steve Sussman (Andy’s dad) on clarinet, Vessela Stoyanova (Fluttr Effect and Goli) on marimba, and many more TBA.
Much more info to be announced very soon including track titles and descriptions of the tunes, as well as the title of the album and cover art which we are in the process of ironing even out as you read this. Also please check us out at Pandora Radio where we are now catalogued or at www.archive.org where we have posted our most recent in-studio jam titled The Revealing Science of Wad recorded this past November.
